Tests of a Model in Restricted Channels,
Abstract
A number of problems are intimately associated with model basin research, in which the width of the channel is of equal importance with the channel depth in its effect on model resistance. One is estimating the largest size model of a ship for which the effect of towing tank dimensions on the model resistance is negligible. Another is predicting the effect of the cross-section of the tank, river or canal when the influence is appreciable. As an attempt to answer these questions the present work was undertaken.
