Raman Scattering by Polaritons in Anisotropic Crystals.
Abstract
The analysis of Raman scattering by polaritons in anisotropic crystals is carried out with due respect for (1) noncollinearity of propagation and Poynting vectors, (2) the influence of anisotropy on the Green's function describing the dependence of radiation efficiency on angle, (3) solid angle expansion at boundaries, including its dependence on the incidence angle, and (4) the influence of exit optics on the length of laser beam which contributes to the scattered intensity. A generalized brightness theorem valid in anisotropic media is proven. The Raman scattering efficiency is evaluated by careful use of the function-dissipation theorem. (Author)
