Charged Colloidal Particles for Controlled Thermonuclear Reactors.

Abstract

Particle, production and control techniques developed in past investigations have led to the proposed use of similar techniques for reactor fuel handling and refueling of operating fusion systems. The development of methods of producing and controlling small particles of deuterium lithium deuteride and other CTR fuels has been one of the main goals of the research. Other efforts which were necessary to support the primary effort have been studies of ion-beam formation from liquid surfaces; electron-sheet-beam extraction and acceleration of ion-beams; analysis of wave phenomena on liquid jets; laset initiated CTR plasmas and other peripheral studies have complemented the main thrust of the research. A number of significant results which have arisen from this research, are described in this report. (Author)
