Effect of Fusidin on the Reproduction of Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis Virus in Tissue Culture,

Abstract

The effect of fusidin on reproduction of viruses of host Venezuela encephalomielytis (VHVE) in the tissue culture was studied. The antibiotic decreased in vitro reproduction of the viruses at concentrations of 100 or 200 micrograms/ml. The inhibitory effect of fusidin increased, when the infection was low multiple. Combined treatment of the culture of chick embryo fibroblasts with interferon and fusidin 24 hours before inoculation with VHVE resulted in additive inhibition of the virus multiplication. (Author)
