Ram Air Inflated Float/Decelerators as Applied to A-Size Sonobuoys.

Abstract

The report is a chronological history of the design of ram air inflated flocelerators (flotation devices/decelerators) for, and application to, deployment of A-size sonobuoys. Data including physical dimensions, air inflation characteristics, flight capabilities and in-water performance is presented. Three NAVAIRDEVCEN (Naval Air Development Center) developed devices are capable of inclusion in production A-size sonobuoys; or, given the necessary additional development, are adaptable for B-size or larger.
