Some Basic Problems of Modern Oceanography (Nekotorye Osnovnye Problemy Sovremennoi Okeanografii),

Abstract

The tide-generating forces of the moon and the sun which act on the earth, besides semidiurnal and diurnal components, contain a sizeable and quite complex, long-period component. The author briefly studies the long-period tides in the ocean and their possible influence both on the transfer of heat by the ocean waters and on the climate of the earth.
