Experimental Array Radar (EAR) Test Bed.

Abstract

PLAY SYSTEMSSIGNAL PROCESSING, *EXPERIMENTAL ARRAY RADARThe report summarizes the background and the accomplishments of the Experimental Array Radar (EAR) exploratory development project. A test bed radar is described that features a crossed-beam electronically scanned antenna. This test bed is operational at low power levels and is located at the US Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Each subsystem of the test bed is described along with appropriate photographs of completed equipment. Digital control and signal processing are used throughout the design. Pertinent performance characteristics of the nominally 20-kilometer detection range system are given. A preliminary assessment of applications and problems are cited. (Author)
