Investigations on the Numerical Solution of Polynomial Equations.
Abstract
The report develops the following: Error estimates a posteriori, usable in numerical practice, for some classes of iterative procedures; Estimates of subdominant roots for a certain class of algebraic equations; Estimates of subdominant roots of positive matrices, known from previous work by the principal investigator and E. Hopf, generalized to irreducible non negative matrices; and, The characterization of the general regular orderings in the field of products of powers by applying the generalized Lexicographic Principle to a sequence of conveniently defined and chosen weight functions.
