Performance Evaluation of Plastic Star Pack Containers - 6 in x 6 in x 10 in,

Abstract

A plastic container to replace the fiberboard now in use would extend the number of reuses for the Star Pack and effectively reduce the overall packaging costs. Rough handling/transportation performance testing, compression tests, rough handling tests at environmental extremes, dynamic cushioning tests, revolving drum tests, WVTR tests, ultraviolet exposure tests and a shipping service test were performed on the plastic Star Pack containers. Satisfactory results on all of the above tests led to the conclusion that an injection-molded plastic Star Pack container could replace the fiberboard container now in use. (Author-PL)
