Synchronized Discrete Address Beacon System (Synchro-DABS).

Abstract

The report describes the results of a study to determine the problems, benefits, and costs of synchronizing the DABS system such as to provide each airborne participant with certain optional aeronautical services. A system concept is developed and documented to the extent necessary to establish a basis for estimating the costs of representitive avionics options. The costs and technical descriptions of 12 configurations are developed to various degrees, beginning with a basic DABS transponder with IPC and progressing through ATC Data Link, PWI, CAS, DME and cockpit PPI displays.
