It is shown that the collapse of the supersaturated state is preceded by a precursor zone whose structure is dominated by droplet production. The subsequent droplet growth leads to a collapse which is governed by a weak condensation shock. A definite criterion is obtained for the position of this shock. Unique similarity forms for the solutions within the precursor zone and the shock zone are found. (Author)
