Solar X-Ray Spectroscopy and Optical Line Polarimetry.

Abstract

An experiment was performed to measure the X-ray spectrum of the solar corona between 1.8 and 5.4A. Panels of mosaic graphite crystals were used as dispersive elements and proportional counters as detectors. The spectrometer was carried aloft by an Aerobee rocket during quiescent solar conditions. The data have been analyzed to yield the solar spectrum as a function of wavelength, revealing both line and continuum emission. (Author)
