Abstract

EDD-W-5262-1DAAB07-72-C-0294ECOM0294-1-72(*traveling wave tubes, design), electron guns, helixes, circuits, feasibility studies, broadbandCold test data was taken for various dual-helix circuit structures. Impedance, phase velocity and dielectric loading factor were measured for different circuit geometries at two different values of conductive shield to helix radius ratio. Dual beam electron gun design studies were performed. An electrolytic tank was used to determine the initial gun design. Electron trajectories along with beam characteristics were evaluated using a digital computer program. Both single beam and dual beam experimental electron guns were designed.
