Interactive Digital Processing of Optical Data.
Abstract
Interactive digital processing of optical data is shown to be useful in investigations of pattern recognition techniques. A system including a flying spot scanner and graphics terminal for the optical to digital conversion and subsequent display of two-dimensional images is described. Application of such a system is demonstrated by interactive contour tracing and character recognition by template matching. Algorithms necessary for the applications are developed and tested.
