The Kinetic Theory of the Completely Ionized Plasma,

Abstract

The Bogolyubov trial solution for solving the BBGKY hierarchy is generalized for a plasma such that it includes the description of plasma operations. This means that it can be used for unstable as well as for weakly stable and weakly inhomogeneous plasmas. All quantities which describe the state of the plasma are assumed to be functionals of the (space averaged) one-particle distribution and the amplitudes of the plasma operations. The oscillations having a definite phase (coherent) and those having a statistically distributed phase (incoherent) are considered separately. The method is first illustrated with the Vlasov equation and is then transferred to the BBGKY hierarchy. (Author)
