Design Study of an Optical System for Annular Imagery,

Abstract

A design approach for an around-the-horizon imagery with elevations -60 degrees, +30 degrees from the horizon, or vice versa, has been studied in detail. It refers to a catadioptric system without beamsplitter serving as a camera as well as a projector lens. The first image has a diameter of 25mm in conjunction with an F/2.5 speed, but it can be magnified by the help of a relais lens (not a subject of this study). Third-order aberrations have been sufficiently corrected with observation of proper passage of marginal rays to serve as a starter for fine-correction. The report includes all design details required for that purpose. (Author)
