Abstract

ILITY OF Pure Homogeneous Deformation of an Elastic Cube Under Dead Loading.Technical rept.,Rivlin,R. S. ;CAM-100-18N00014-67-A-0370-0001(*deformation, elastic properties), loads(forces), stability, mathematical modelscubes(mathematics)A cube of incompressible neo-Hookean material is subjected to a pure homogeneous deformation by three similar pairs of equal and opposite forces, acting normally to its faces and distributed uniformly over them. It is found that one, or seven, equilibrium states are possible, depending on the magnitude of the applied forces. The stability of the various equilibrium states is investigated with respect to arbitrary infinitesimal superposed deformations. (Author Modified Abstract)
