Analytical Chemical Research, Support and Service.

Abstract

The report briefly summarizes the research and support programs and service functions covering determination of molecular structures, characterization of materials and development and application of analytical techniques of various kinds. The contract also involves various services supplied the Air Force in support of their in-house programs. The major areas of research and support were in emission spectrometry, mass spectrometry, microchemical analyses and vibrational spectroscopy. In emission spectrometry special techniques for the analysis of strontium, calcium and cadmium fluorides were developed. Vibrational spectroscopic studies concentrated on far infrared group frequencies, the structures of acids, and crystallization phenomena. Mass spectrometric studies involved the development of an analytical method for trace amounts of water. (Author Modified Abstract)
