Investigation and Identification of Human Operator Models Using the Theory of Time-Series Analysis.

Abstract

A method was developed for modeling the human transfer function such as in aircraft flight tasks from actual input/output data using time series analysis. The approach identifies the form of the model, estimates the parameters of that model based on actual data, and checks the fitted model for inadequacies and needed improvement. The technique has an admirable characteristic of not requiring a postulated model. This is the first time the human transfer function has been viewed from the time series aspects, so the results are expected to shed new light on certain aspects of the problem.
