A Compilation of Luminance Data for Incorporating Multiple Scattering into a Radiative Transfer Model.

Abstract

A digital computer model to predict the spectral irradiance on a ground target is being developed at the Ballistic Research Laboratories. A preliminary model based on single scattering has been developed to predict the irradiance produced from the sun and the cloudless daytime sky. To provide a data base for the incorporation of multiple scattering into the model, the luminances of the sun and sky were measured as a function of geometric and environmental conditions. The report contains the data and describes the techniques used to obtain the data that will be used to incorporate the effect of multiple scattering into the model. (Author)
