Hydrologic Engineering Methods for Water Resources Development. Volume 10. Principles of Ground-Water Hydrology.

Abstract

The volume is part of a 12-volume report entitled, 'Hydrologic Engineering Methods for Water Resources Development', prepared by The Hydrologic Engineering Center as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' participation in the International Hydrological Decade. Volume 10 describes the fundamental concepts which govern the occurrence and movement of ground water, and presents the basic principles of hydrology, geology, hydraulics, and physics as they relate to ground water. The information presented is sufficient to guide hydrologic engineers in the identification and initial considerations of ground-water aspects of water resource development studies. A generalized computer program description, 'Finite Element Solution of Steady-State Potential Flow Problems', is included as part of this volume. This program is intended for application to problems involving steady two-dimensional or axisymmetric flow through heterogeneous, anisotropic porous media of virtually and internal or external geometry.
