Growth of Barium Ferrite for Magnetic Optical Devices.

Abstract

Single crystals of BaFe12O19 have been grown using the flux method. The initial weight composition from which the crystals were grown consists of 64.3 BaCO3, 15.5 B2O3, 34.5 Fe2O3 and 1 V2O3. This composition has been varied to add PbO instead of BaO and to increase or decrease the amount of V2O3, in order to change the fluidity of the melt and improve the grown crystals.
