Departure from Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium (LTE) in an Oxygen Plasma. I. Radiative Cascade Limit.

Abstract

A radiative cascade model of the excited state population densities in a recombining oxygen plasma is described. The departure from local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) coefficients calculated using all atomic energy levels up to principal quantum number 20 are obtained for all angular momentum states. The emitted infrared radiation is also discussed. (Author)
