Firefighting Helicopter Control Device for Collecting Water without Landing(Ustroestvo dlya Upravleniya Prutivopozharnym Vertoletom pri Nabor Vody bez Posadki),

Abstract

The proposed device is installed as follows: a pressure sensor mounted on the pump, a tube connected to the pump that has a jet nozzle, and a vacuum sensor that is joined to the tube and is connected via the mode selector switch to the input of the altitude autopilot. This assures hightened precision in Stabilizing the depth to which the pump is submerged. While taking on water, it is not desirable that the sucking nozzles leave the water or that they should go to an excessive depth. In the first case the pumps will draw in air and in the second case it is possible, with a shallow resevoir, to draw in slime and stones from the bottom, which may throw the entire fire extinguishing apparatus out of order as a whole.
