Vacuum Tube and Solid State Circuit Survey.

Abstract

The survey provides information on the proportions of vacuum tube and solid state circuitry currently found in communications-electronics equipment taught in several schools in the US Continental Army Command school system. Projections are made for these proportions two years and five years from the date of the survey. Results show that a substantial proportion of communications-electronics equipment will be vacuum tube operated at least into the early 1980's indicating a continued need for basic electronics training in vacuum tube circuitry during this period. The findings also indicate that any new development of basic electronics instructional material should concentrate on solid state circuitry. (Author)
