Compressible Turbulent Boundary Layer Solutions Employing Eddy Viscosity Models,

Abstract

The purpose of the investigation is to compare and summarize the classic eddy viscosity models in an attempt to establish a bench mark for future development of turbulent boundary layer research. Several multilayer eddy viscosity models were selected on the basis of their basic approximation of the viscous sublayer region and the eddy viscosity model when necessary to improve the accuracy of the solutions. Calculations were performed over Mach number ranges of approximately zero to 4.55 for zero pressure gradient and adiabatic wall. A study of transition location was also accomplished.
