Effect of Interfaces in Metal Matrix Composites on Mechanical Properties.

Abstract

A study was made of the effect of the interface in aluminum (6061)/boron and aluminum (6061)/silicon carbide coated boron (Borsic) on selected mechanical properties. The object of the study was to determine the relationship of the interface condition to mechanical properties and to control interface effects so that composite properties can be optimized.
