Fast Fourier Transform Implementation for the Calculation of Network Frequency Domain Transfer Functions from Time Domain Waveforms.

Abstract

The report is concerned with the software applications of the fast Fourier transform algorithm to the relationship between time domain waveforms and frequency domain spectra. The first chapter is devoted to a description of the discrete Fourier transform and the fast Fourier transform. Chapter 2 contains the text and a brief description of all FORTRAN 2 programs used in connection with this work. In Chapter 3, problems encountered using the fast Fourier transform algorithm are discussed, an example of a time domain to frequency domain calculation is presented, and future developmental considerations are mentioned. In addition Appendix A contains a detailed example aimed at disclosing the inner mechanisms of the fast Fourier transform algorithm. (Author)
