Admittance of an Axial Slot Backed by a Cylindrical Cavity Inside an Infinite Cylinder.

Abstract

PPLIED TO CALCULATION OF THE ADMITTANCE OF A NARROW LONGITUDINAL SLOT IN A CYLINDRICAL CAVITY INSIDE OF AN INFINITE CYLINDER. The technique is analogous to previously used by Galejs in calculating the admittance of a narrow rectangular slot backed by a rectangular cavity. The exciting current element is directed azimuthally on the slot. The slot is assumed sufficiently narrow to justify neglect of the longitudinal component of electric field. The azimuthally directed electric field is represented by a sum of trial functions, the tangential boundary condition for magnetic fields is applied on the slot, the admittance is expressed as a ratio of sums of unknown coefficients and a variation principle is applied to find optional values for these coefficients.
