A Procedure for Turbulent Arc Calculations.

Abstract

A mathematical model has been formulated for turbulent flow in both water-cooled and transpiration-cooled electric arcs. The model provides for the determination of flow profiles (velocity, temperature, turbulent shear stress, etc.) as well as for the determination of overall arc characteristics (electric field intensity and wall heat transfer). A finite-difference solution to the model is developed. (Author)
