Expansion of Containerized Transportation of Cargoes,

Abstract

The Minsk Directorate of Automotive Transport Roads has, since 1963, realized the shipment of small lots of cargoes in one-ton motor vehicle containers models AK-2 (wooden) and AK-3 (metal), which are manufactured at the Bobruysk Experimental-Mechanical Plant of the BSSR Ministry of Motor Vehicle Transport. Containers of these types are intended for bulk transportation of any type of cargoes: machine assemblies and parts, textile goods, footwear, food products and so forth. Over the period of the first two years, which is to say 1963-1964, transportation of cargoes in motor vehicle containers was still in the experimental stage and the volume of containerized shipping has sharply grown only since 1965.
