Toxic Properties of Prussic Acid and Safety Techniques,

Abstract

Hydrocyanic or prussic acid is commonly used in disinfectants and raticides and is fatal to man in sufficiently large doses. Its toxic action stops the oxygen-exchange mechanism in living tissue. Sodium thiosulfate is the most common antidote. Oxygen should also be given, as well as a cardiac stimulant. (Author)
