Research on Semantic Nets.

Abstract

Work on semantic networks involved three distinct areas: map displays, inferences and English comprehension. The initial graphics package was completed and allows users to ask questions and give commands in English to control SCHOLAR's map display, which is tied into the semantic network on South American geography. The inference work centered around functional inferences, in particular analogies and computations. Also started a more sophisticated English Comprehension System was developed during the year, utilizing a new data base on the ARPA network.
