NMCSSC JOVIAL J5.2 Compiler and JOVIAL-NIPS Interface.

Abstract

The memorandum presents an introduction to the JOVIAL J5.2 Compiler and the JOVIAL-NIPS Interface. It describes the hardware and software requirements for the use of JOVIAL with the IBM S/360 Operating System (OS), and includes a brief discussion of the discrepancy reporting system and user training program. NIPS is the National Military Command System (NMCS) Information Processing System, for IBM 360 computers. JOVIAL is a general-purpose relatively machine-independent, procedure-oriented language developed by the System Development Corporation. It is a programming language which describes data processing in terms of the logical operations required. It is a readable language using familiar algebraic notations and with logic expressed in self-explanatory English words. (Author)
