Effect of Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Radiation on Chromosomes.
Abstract
Growth and mitotic index parameters were determined for one electric field strength (20V/M) for 1 and 24 hr exposure periods. The bean root population is initially selected for uniformity of length. As the roots grow the uniformity of lengths diminishes, hence the standard errors tend to increase with time. This collection of growth rate figures shows rather clearly that there is no effect of the electric field exposures on the growth rate and mitotic index parameters of the root. This no-effect result of the electric field exposures on growth was further substantiated by mitotic index analyses for similar exposure regimens; there was no detectable difference between controls and exposed regimens.
