Laboratory Studies of the Effects of Physical Hazard on Shelter Management Behavior. Phase 1. Study Plan.

Abstract

The goal of the project was to develop the experimental design and supporting materials and procedures for a research project intended to identify and validate predictors of effective management behavior under threat stress. The product of the project is a Study Plan intended to be implemented as a laboratory study of the effects of threat stress on human leadership/management behavior, representing the situation of a shelter manager in an actual disaster. Included in the project was a small pilot study to evaluate the methodology and materials that were developed for the Study Plan. The project involved the development of certain prototype items for a shelter manager seselection battery and a management performance battery, as well as the development of the research methodology itself.
