The Theory of an Elastic Medium with Microstructure,

Abstract

Recently, models of the mechanics of continuous media which consider the microstructure of the medium were developed. It has been shown that the moment theory of elasticity is included as the limiting case of weak dispersion in the theory of a macroscopically homogeneous elastic medium with spatial dispersion. In this article the author gives a brief survey of results of previous articles on the subject, and indicates methods for constructing effective solutions. The examination is limited to the case of a linear elastic medium.
