Soil Mechanics Laboratory Test Data Reduction and Presentation using the WANG Programmable Calculator.

Abstract

The WANG 720B Programmable Calculator and the 702 Printer/Plotter were procured by the Missouri River Division Laboratory in June 1971. Numerous Geotechnical programs have been written since that time for both the Rock and Soil Mechanics Sections. Not only are standard mathematical calculations performed with the WANG, but also, exact replicas of standard Engineering and MRD report forms are produced. To date, the Soil Mechanics Section Section has a total of eight frequently used WANG programs. Four programs plot substitutes for standard Engineering and MRD forms. The named commerical calculator has been beneficial but not mandatory. Minor adaptations of these programs could most certainly be useful for programming similar programmable calculators. (Author)
