Static Aerodynamic Characteristics of a One-Third Scale Model of the SUU-7A/A Aircraft External Store.
Abstract
A wind tunnel test was performed on a 1/3-scale model of the SUU/7A/A external store in the David Taylor Model Basin 7 x 10 foot transonic wind tunnel. The test was conducted at Mach numbers of .6, .7, .8, .9, .95, 1.0, and angles of attack from -4 degrees to 10 degrees in 2 degrees increments. Lift force, pitching moment, and axial drag data obtained from the model are presented with Schlieren photographs of the model taken during testing. The zero yaw drag was corrected for sting effect. The center of pressure of the body was found to be several calibers in front of the nose, and tends to move toward the nose at angles of attack above 7 degrees.
