An Investigation of the Production of Magnus Forces on a High Fineness Ratio Body of Revolution.

Abstract

A high fineness ratio body of revolution with an ogive forebody shape was tested at varying angles of attack, Reynolds numbers, and spin rates to measure the Magnus forces developed. The experimental data were compared with previously derived theoretical equations for an open-ended cylinder of revolution to substantiate the theoretical work. (Author)
