1972-3 Research on Carrier Beam Sensor.

Abstract

Research on the Carrier Beam Sensor included further field tests in fresh and salt water environments, and the development of a prediction model that interrelates observed on-axis non-linear opposing direction conversion with the parameters of the medium. This apparatus is a receiving system in which a high frequency ultrasonic beam is pointed at a distant low frequency source, and the low frequency is detected as modulation sidebands returning to the sensor. Recommendations for further research include extension of the model for off-axis reception, and optimization studies for specific applications.
