Tunable Laser Research.

Abstract

The report summarizes the results of a twelve month research program to investigate various high power, tunable nonlinear optical devices, including parametric generators and dye lasers, and to investigate efficient second and fourth harmonic generation of Nd:YAG lasers. During the program, tunable parametric generators capable of covering the entire range from 0.4 micrometers to 4 micrometers were constructed, 40% energy conversion from 1.06 micrometers to 0.53 micrometers was achieved, 1 watt average powers were achieved at 0.266 micrometers and tunable dye lasers with up to 300 mJ/pulse with a pulse length of less than 8 nsec were demonstrated.
