Aircraft Performance - Prediction Methods and Optimization

Abstract

The aim of the Lecture Series was to provide an up-to-date account and appraisal of performance prediction methods and their practical utilisation for subsonic and supersonic aircraft. The basic topics comprised range/radius, airfield and flight-manoeuvre performance aspects related to both combat and transport aircraft. Special reviews were added on problems of aerodynamic prediction, aircraft mass estimation, and engine selection. Parametric and optimisation techniques for aircraft design synthesis were also discussed.
