Theoretical Aspects of Artificial Plasma Injection.

Abstract

The report contains detailed theoretical studies of several aspects of a program to stimulate electromagnetic cyclotron instabilities in the magnetosphere through cold plasma injection. This includes discussions of the dynamics of an artificially injected lithium cloud, ion-EMC wave growth rates in a lithium plasma, the effects of plasma inhomogeneities and some remarks on the Post-Rosenbluth instability in a high-beta two-ion plasma.
