Intense Electron Beam Generation, Transport, and Diagnosis.

Abstract

The report describes intense electron beam generation, transport, and diagnosis oriented toward the development of technology required for construction of an advanced X-ray source. Generation and transport of beams was performed both with and without externally applied magnetic fields; (azimuthal, B(theta), and longitudinal, B(z), magnetic fields were employed). Electron beam and X-ray diagnostics developed or modified for use in this work are described along with theoretical work on diode and beam transport phenomena. (Author)
