Carbon Dioxide Monitoring.

Abstract

The progress of a program involving Investigation into Applications of Bioluminescent Technology to Swimmer Life Support Systems, Office of Naval Research, is reported. Results of early tests have been most encouraging. Characterized bacteria responses to varying levels of carbon dioxide have been sharp -- with excellent signal-to-noise ratio. A collection of 32 cultures of luminescent microorganisms are currently under cultivation. This collection will be used as a source for selection of biosensors suitable for CO2 detection tests.
