Instructional Strategies for a Performance Oriented Techniian Course.
Abstract
A study was initiated to devise innovative instructional strategies to be used in a performance oriented technical training course. The strategies devised were student centered and applicable for self-pacing in a proposed computer based Advanced Instructional System (AIS). A detailed examination was made of the current course, concentrating on course content, instructional strategies, student characteristics, instructor characteristics, and course administration. Strategies were then generated based on data gathered during the course analysis. Of the 56 strategies generated, 5 were chosen for detailed development and demonstration of their feasibility in the current weapons mechanic (TAC) course. An evaluation of selected strategies will be performed in the near future. (Author)
