The SACLANTCEN Shipborne Computer Environmental-Data Acquisition System. Volume 2. The Temperature, Depth, Salinity Sound Speed (TDS/SV) Subsystem.

Abstract

An automatic environmental data-logging and computing system installed on board SACLANTCEN's research vessel is described in a series of memoranda. This memorandum of the series describes how continuous profile data of ocean salinity, temperature and sound speed measured by TDS/SV probes are applied to the system. The output is in digital form, with interpolations and listings at selected depth intervals if required, and the processing is normally completed before the probe has been retrieved. During acquisition, the data of each parameter are checked to ensure that they each lie within acceptable limits and are appropriately related to each other. (Author)
