Clean and Attractive Urban Power Systems.

Abstract

Various difficulties, such as the siting and the waste problems, facing the power industry at the present time are examined. It is proposed that these problems be resolved by integrating clean power plants into community centers. This can be done in such a way that not only power but also year-round recreation and job-training will be enjoyed and used by the residents. More specifically, the result is a new type of integrated system that is comprised of (A) total energy gas turbine power plants to be located in underground sites within the community centers and (B) year-round recreation, job-training and other facilities to be designed to suit local needs and to be located within the same community centers. It can be anticipated that such integrated systems will be attractive to and welcomed by the residents. (Author)
