Dynamic Response of Coupled Systems: A Comparison Between Statistical Energy and Deterministic Techniques.

Abstract

The problem of two, spring coupled rods subjected to a known longitudinal steady state pure tone excitation is used to compare the statistical energy analysis (SEA) approach with other, more traditional, high frequency formulations. In particular, the Sommerfeld -Watson transformation and the Poisson Summation Formula are interpreted in terms of the SEA point of view. The relevance of these results to more complicated structures is discussed. (Author)
